Some nights, my mind refuses to rest. Thoughts pile up, looping endlessly, turning small worries into something much bigger. Anxiety has a way of making the smallest moments feel like they carry the weight of the world. If you’ve ever struggled with an overactive mind, this poem is for you.
A Mind That Never Rests

“A Mind That Never Rests”
My mind is a crowded room,
voices whisper, echo, consume.
A tangled thread, a spinning wheel,
thoughts too restless, too deep to heal.
Did I lock the door? Did I say it wrong?
A single worry hums like a song.
The chorus loops, the verses climb,
a melody lost in borrowed time.
The world moves slow, but I move fast,
chasing shadows, chasing past.
A moment’s peace is hard to find,
when you’re at war with your own mind.
Breathe in, breathe out—count to four,
anchor myself to the quiet floor.
The storm still swirls, but here I stand,
holding my breath, letting go of its hand.
Reflection
This poem came from a place of deep frustration but also self-awareness. Living with anxiety means constantly untangling thoughts that refuse to settle. It’s exhausting, but I’ve also learned that even in the chaos, there are moments of stillness. Sometimes, it’s about finding small ways to ground myself—breathing through it, focusing on something tangible, or reminding myself that not every thought deserves my energy.
If you’ve ever felt this way, know that you’re not alone. How do you quiet your mind when it feels too loud? Share your thoughts in the comments—I’d love to hear what helps you. 💜
